Duties and responsibilities of a Substitute Teacher

  • Substitute teachers teach on behalf of the regular teachers when they are on leave
  • They have to strictly follow the curriculum and lesson plans that are made by the regular teacher
  • They should be able to teach any subject that is required of them, and they also should be ready to teach students of any age
  • They have to familiarize themselves with each of the students, especially if they are going to teach them for a long period
  • Once the teachers are back, they have to update them on all that has taken place in the classroom
  • Agree to attend any training for the campus assigned. Meet with the campus principal to understand campus expectations.

Qualifications Necessary in Becoming a Substitute Teacher

  • A bachelor's degree in education is preferred.
  • Texas teaching certificate or a substitute teaching certificate
